Barrie Block Parent®

Keeping Barrie safe, one block at a time!

The RCMP have recently made changes to their Vulnerable Screening process & it is affecting how volunteer organizations across Canada are now processing & screening their applicants.

To become a Barrie Block Parent® you are now required to attend the Barrie Police Service – Records Department located at 29 Sperling Drive in Barrie to have a Criminal Records Check performed for all members of your household aged 12 years & older. The Records Department is conveniently open Monday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

You are required to present a copy of our Volunteer Letter along with your completed Block Parent® application form & 2 valid pieces if ID when visiting the Barrie Police Service’s Records Department. The cost of the record check is $40, but is FREE for a volunteer position as long as you provide our letter. Printable copies of our Volunteer Letter are available under the Forms section of this website.

It will take approximately 6-8 weeks to process your application. The completed Police Checks and Vulnerable Screening results will be mailed to the address specified on your forms. Once all members of the household have successfully passed the Police Record Checks and Vulnerable Screening, your Block Parent® application will be forwarded to the Block Parent® Program in Barrie. We will contact you to arrange an appointment to meet with you and your family and to deliver your sign. At that time you will receive additional training and information.
